Paths Tool
How to go From Paths to Stroke
Paths to stroke means to turn the path you have made into a
structure or shape with solid lines. First what you have to do is open up the
GIMP program on your computer. After that you will open your file that you wish
to edit or a new file. Next you will go over to the "paths tool" button and select it. The "Paths Tool"
looks like a calligraphy pen, with a line coming out from it. Next you will select the
"Paths Tool" button. From there you will need to click and pin the tool to the
spot where you want the line to start and then pin it where you want the line
to end. Next in the toolbox under "Tools Options" you will need to click on the
"Stroke Path" button. From there you will see a box appear that says "Stroke Path- Choose Stroke Style".
Your two options in this box for stroke are "Strokes Line" and "Stroke with a Paint Tool". Under stroke line your options are solid color or pattern. The pattern or color is determined by what was previously selected in the tool boxes for color and pattern. The way to select one of these is to click on the circle beside the choice you wish to select. Also, under the choices for lines is a box where you choose this size of your line. You will need to select your measurement first, which is in the box beside the line size. Next you will have to type in number for the line size or us the small arrows to navigate the numbers.
Your other option is to click the circle by the “Path with a Paint Tool” button. This will allow you to choose an option by clicking small arrow pointing down and clicking the desired tool. Now you are at the last step, which is for you to click the stroke button at the bottom of the stroke path box which you were working with.
